Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how EchoFM ("EchoFM", "we", "us") handles information when you use the EchoFM mobile app. EchoFM is an internet radio and podcast player. We built EchoFM to keep your data on your device wherever possible.

The short version: Most of your data (favorites, listening history, settings, downloaded episodes) stays on your device. We only store an account, your podcast subscriptions and Premium status on our servers if you choose to sign in or subscribe.

1. Information we handle

On your device

Your favorite stations and podcasts, recently played history, playback positions, downloaded episodes, sleep-timer and equalizer settings and theme preferences are saved locally on your device. Unless you sign in, none of this is uploaded to our servers.

Account (optional)

Signing in is optional. If you sign in with Google, we receive and store your name, email address and profile picture via Firebase Authentication to create your account, manage your Premium status and sync your podcast subscriptions, playback progress and listening stats across devices.

Purchases

If you buy EchoFM Premium, payment is processed by Google Play. We never see your payment details; we receive and store only your subscription status, product and expiry so we can unlock Premium features.

Notifications

If you enable new-episode notifications, we store a push-notification token for your device (Firebase Cloud Messaging) linked to your podcast subscriptions, used solely to deliver those notifications.

2. Where radio and podcast content comes from

Radio stations are listed from the community-run Radio Browser directory. Audio streams play directly from each broadcaster's servers.
Podcast search and discovery is powered by Podcast Index. Episodes stream or download directly from each podcast publisher's own hosting. Broadcasters, publishers and their hosts may see your IP address and standard connection data, as with any internet request, and their own privacy policies apply.

3. Advertising

The free version of EchoFM shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and use them for ad delivery and measurement in line with Google's Privacy Policy. EchoFM Premium removes all ads.

4. How we use information

To provide and operate the app, play radio and podcasts, and sync your subscriptions if signed in.
To verify Premium purchases and unlock Premium features.
To send new-episode notifications you've asked for.
To respond when you contact us or send in-app feedback.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention and deletion

On-device data — clearing the app's data or uninstalling EchoFM removes your locally stored favorites, history, downloads and settings.
Account data — you can request deletion of your account and synced data at any time via our account deletion page. Requests are processed within 30 days.

6. Children

EchoFM is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date.
